SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

Supported Employment is where job coaches attend work with persons served and train along side in order to adapt the position and assist the individual with learning a job at their individualized pace. Each person will be given their own plan for job coaching and eventual transitoning to independent employment.

Individuals that do not require long term one-on-one job coaching but may need assistance with communicating with their employer, utilizing adaptive aids on the job and other reasonable accommodations are enrolled in the competitive program. This program is for people with work experience, or that are able to be fairly independent on the job with a reasonable accommodation.

COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT

TRIAL WORK

This program is for individuals with little to no work history, for whom we do not have a clear understanding of their employment strengths. The program is funded by the State of Illinois with wages completely reimbursed to the employer after an individual is able to complete a short training and work experience similar to that of an internship. This allows persons served to try work, develop skills for participating in future supported employment opportunities, or determines a need to stay in a more traditional day program until better prepared for community based employment.

Vocational services do not end after a successful placement. Currently, we are able, through our grant services to provide on going assistance as requested either by the individual, or their employer. Should persons served require additional future training on new job responsibilities, or assistance coordinating transportation we are able to help aid in the entire employment process for as long as a individual is employed.
